Review - DJ N01y0uknow “Couch Potato Music.”

DJ N01y0uknow released his long-awaited project “Couch Potato Music. “ An eclectic collection of electric-house beats which showcase the diverse range and increasingly high-potential of the producing standout.

For lack of better words, this is an album that I can only describe as the aura of DJ N01y0uknow. High energy, but captured within its essence, is talent and a sound delivered with good intent.  As a producer, he’s grown tremendously, and this album reflects the culmination of hours put into the betterment of his craft. And while much of N01y0uknow’s music has changed, it’s still recognizably his in at least one way: those beautifully-obscure, references that could make the most niche of hipsters blush.

This album is filled to the brim in early Playstation sounds and old-school references that’ll take a rabbit-holes worth of research to understand. However, underneath those references captures the brilliant sound of N01y0uknow, which swiftly roving between house-music, abstract hip-hop, electro, and nostalgic sounds, and even detouring into sweaty dance-hip-hop.

The separation between these genres is determined by the use of his drum patterns, which can range from barely noticeable to dance-party. His tempered measuring as to when each moment of a song should stand-out becomes increasingly appreciated the further the project progresses.

By the project’s conclusion, you’ll find yourself enjoying this seven-song house party. N01y0uknow knows his lane and occupies it with supreme comfort. "Couch Potato Music." is an enjoyable project that I highly recommend.

You can listen to the project here.
