"Fuck men they so fucking dumb" exclaims Myna, a theme that's rather consistent throughout her album “I Don’t Wanna Be Here.” A 14-song project the Detroit native describes as a story of love, tragedy, and ”Finding light in the middle of a dark tunnel.” These themes are steady all over the album, however, its Myna’s formidable talents that take center stage.

Myna’s forte during this album is her ability to discuss love, along with the trials and tribulations attached to the concept. It’s her bread and butter. Her beautifully-gritty voice allows her to masterfully operates this lane. And while vocally, Myna’s nothing short of fierce, her songwriting abilities display a plethora of surprises, including a stunning display of solid bar spitting on songs such as "A Great Lament."

Songs such as “Strangelife” also highlight Myna’s songwriting prowess, as she creates moments where lyrics flow freely, feeling less like songs, but instead organized freestyles at local kickbacks. However, the beauty in Myna’s songwriting ability is that she creates these moments without ever sacrificing a song’s momentum. Its organized free-flow.

“I Don’t Wanna Be Here” feels complete, as nothing ever feels wrong, never feeling dull, but feeling like a journey of someone exploring love and allowing us to hear her discourse on the matter. By the album’s conclusion, “I Don’t Wanna Be Here” feels emotionally appropriate at all the right times, creating a well-balanced project that operates at a fast pace, making it a treat to listen to. Myna takes the relatable topic of love and uses her raw approach to make an album that feels genuine at all times.
