Album Review - Dskillz Harris & Chile_Madd “The Next Episode.”

"The Next Episode." By Dskillz Harris & Chile_Madd, the two Baltimore natives provide boom-bap-tism at its highest caliber with standout lyrics and solid guest verses. By the project's end, you will appreciate the album as a solid outing for the two DownByLaw members.

“The Next Episode.” For lack of better terms, is nothing short of hip-hop showcasing.  Often the duo occupies the correct space in creating great content without just lyrically masturbating, Providing substance behind their bars. Songs like "Eat The Rich." Allow the two enough creativity to bring forth lasting visualization to match their in-depth lyrical skill.

Throughout the album, the identity of the two rappers lies in their bars-manship. It’s undoubtedly impressive to see what the two artists can accomplish over their beats, as they each take turns lyrically one-up one another until the project's inevitable conclusion.

While there is a multitude of highlights throughout the album, the project's stumbles are equally present. Beginning with their beat selection as the sound of their production value can range from cypher level basic to downright sleep-inducing if you're not in the mood to hear beats that lack decent melodic expressiveness.

However, this bit of music faux pas should be anything but a negative ticket to the duo's hip-hop credibility as the two manage to remain captivating despite their sketchy beat selection.

The thematic feel of the album is simple, as it revolves heavily around their lyrical prowess. This theme is both a gift and a curse for a multitude of reasons. This theme is a gift by showcasing rapping in its purest sense, where the bars take center stage, and effortless flow becomes evident and well documented early and often. However, the downside to this is that you'll find yourself missing other modernized elements of hip-hop, as singers, credible radio-ready hits, and at times song direction are nonexistent throughout the project.

But with each missing element, you'll find that this project remains true to itself, chalked with highlights such as the undeniable chemistry between Dskillz Harris & Chile_Madd. “The Next Episode.” Is an album designed for hip-hop purist and it executes without flaw.
