Review - 6Lack 6pc Hot Ep
Very few artists display an understanding of the current music climate like 6lack. Somewhere between being a nonchalant singer or a silky-smooth rapper, the Atlanta artists provide a bold example as to why he refuses to be confined by either label with his latest project, “6pc Hot EP.” A collection of songs which use the beauty, and hindsight of nostalgia to tell a vibe-heavy story about growing up in East Atlanta.
The 6eauty of the 6pc lies within 6lack’s a6ility to make seemingly anything feel effortless. Normally, lines such as “I was livin' like a fool, breakin' all the rules” could very well come across as unbearable with some rappers, 6lack’s cadence and delivery, however, turns non-exhilarate lines such as this into a frequent quotable.
Equipped with calming beats, 6lack does every track justice by keeping each story and melodic mellowness interesting enough for you to want to hear the next track. While the stories of each track share a similar tone and approach, The EP does receive a boost of energy with a special appearce from Lil Baby, the projects ’s only feature.
Overall, 6lack offers an EP that thrives off the idea that less is more, beats occasionally provide more substance than his lyrics, however, 6lack displays supreme confidence in his skills, resulting in a complete EP as the payoff.
