With mainstream artists like FKA Twigs and The Weeknd releasing albums in January, I decided to enlist the help of my artistic friends to get their opinions on who they believe will have the best album of 2025.
Fresh off the highs of the 2024/2025 Grammys, each prediction is purely hypothetical and 100% fun. Enjoy.
Predictions - (The interviews were conducted in early January)
DaVoice (Rapper, producer, engineer) - “Genre specific? Eminem or J. Cole. Singles and any category Kendrick is in, he gets.”
Andrew Wright (Rapper) - “I’m very biased, I’m going to say Ye “Bully,” because he’s dropping the duo and returning to just being himself, and he potentially fixed the relationship with Mike Dean and whenever those two work together, it’s near perfect. However, there are two other artists that could be better. If Baby Keem did a follow up to Melodic Blue that was on a similar level to that album, or if Lil Yatchy dropped a follow up to “let’s start here.”
Angel (Lead singer of Violet Sol) - “Maybe The Weeknd. His last two albums were fire and this one coming out is a part of a trilogy including those. I feel like it’s going to be great. I’m interested in hearing FKA twigs too.”
WhoIsJovie (Rapper) - “I don't know who's all dropping this year but I believe Kendrick is going to drop something crazy, Kanye, and Killer Mike.”
Shooter McShootem - “Shooter.”
London Beck (Singer, producer, engineer) - “I think Jade Thirwall from Little Mix is going to have the best album of the year. She’s released three singles so far and it’s unlike any Pop music I’ve heard before. Her producers, and any other writers involved, have studied well.”
