Album Review - Bloom (Blossom Pt. 1) by Mike Fate

Bloom (Blossom Pt. 1) By Mike Fate is a project that operates on a scale of hip-hop not measured by its lyrical prowess or obnoxiously catchy beat selection, two elements that often accompany hip-hop acts. Instead, this project is measured by the insistent, uplifting messages and real-life messages of trials and tribulations that occupy the daily struggles of life.

For those seeing this album as an introduction to the rapper, you’ll find the beauty of Bloom to be its constant exploration of the struggles and dreams of everyday life. Songs such as the Caribbean flavored “Sunshine.” Offer an uplifting sense of ambition. Layered over Fate’s auto-tuned vocals, he declares, “I’ve got this feeling, I can make millions, I can bring healing, I’m on my roll.”

The highlight of this album is its themes, which Fate makes a constant effort to stay on track with throughout the project. While songs such as the “Asaka The Renegade” assisted “Need You.” Speak on subjects of romantic companionships, and songs like “Cyrus” speak on the pressures and sacrifice associated with maintaining peace and mental health, Fate does an exceptional job of creating an atmosphere throughout the album where this blend of unrelated subject matter feels enigmatic.

Featuring 11 songs, just under 40 minutes of runtime. This album is decisive in a proper introduction to the artist and provides just enough content for you to enjoy without becoming tired or annoyed with the album’s length. While it only has two featured artists, in Nessy The Rilla and the aforementioned, Asaka the Renegade, the two features serve as great additions to their respective songs.

Overall, Bloom is an album is one that you’ll enjoy as a great way to start the new year. You can listen to the album here.
