Single Review - “Escape” by Anwar Sadot
It has certainly been a long time coming, but Anwar Sadot has finally returned with a new single titled “Escape” featuring artist Field. Prior to this single, the last time we heard from Sadot musically was pre-Covid times and his stellar album Clarity. However, with this new single, Sadot, the usual wordsmith takes a melodic approach layered over a softer-toned instrumental.
New music from Sadot should resonate with the release hype of Pusha-T. It’s not something that happens often, but when it happens, we should celebrate and embrace the occasion as a world-tier talent displaying his new motivation to the world. Throughout his career, Sadot has been known as a pure-range rapper, willing to challenge any echelon to trade bars and barbs without backing down.
However, in 2025, this new single sees the Michigan product exploring a new sound. “Escape,” for lack of better words, has Sadot showcasing his vocal talents, channeling a vocal structure that is more Kid Cudi-esque than Mary J. Blige. Creating a track that features Sadot returning to his usual bleeding-heart subject matter, offering the standard mode of transparency longtime fans have grown to love from the emcee.
Instrumentally, “Escape” is nothing new for Sadaot, who has maintained a notoriously great ear for production. While it is possible to associate this new style of production with nighttime arcade adventures or a chill car ride following a successful adventure among friends, Sadot uses this production as a moment to relatively vent about wanting to escape a world that he views as turning more pessimistic than acknowledging life with empty optimism.
Overall, “Escape” is a punctuation to the headline that Sadot is back. Debuting a new sound, sure, but maybe this venture could be met with the same hype and promise as his former artistry. As for now, this song is a step in the right direction. You can check out the song here.
